Thermo Scientific has introduced a new generation triple quadrupole LC-MS platform along with Orbitrap Fusion Tribrid LC-MS system at ASMS 2013 Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics, being held from June 9 till June 13 at Minneapolis. The new platform integrates Thermo Scientific Quantiva triple stage quadrupole Mass spectrometer and Thermo Scientific Endura triple stage quadrupole mass spectrometer.
The new platform is designed to transform quantitation experiments with extreme sensitivity, productivity, precision and usability. The new generation Quantiva-Endura platform is the most usable platform offering highest performance, and it is designed to be user friendly with easy method creation and accessible data analysis and review.
The Active Ion Management (AIM) in TSQ Quantiva triple quadrupole greatly enhances the sensitivity by optimizing ion creation and transmission from the source to detector. The enhanced sensitivity ensures improved, more accurate results compared to previous triple quad devices by Thermo Fisher. In the tests conducted, AIM enhanced systems have performed very well with great precision by measuring 70 attograms of verapamil in plasma on column. It can perform 500 SRM experiments per second with the ability to switch positive/negative polarity in 20ms without any signal loss.
TSQ Quantiva is suitable for peptide quantitation, metabolomics, biopharmaceutical QA/QC and many more applications. The presence of new Ion Beam Guide and Neutral Blocker increases the productivity and eases maintenance, by keeping the components free from contamination.
Both TSQ Quantiva and TSQ Endura shares most of the advanced technology, but the latter is built for workhorse applications requiring trace level quantitation like food testing, environmental analysis and pharmaceutical QA/QC. Both the systems share common software with the company’s newly launched Orbitrap Fusion Tribrid system. TSQ Quantiva and Orbitrap Fusion, both developed for plug and play exchange between each other, uses same source housing, where the gas and electrical connections are automatically made when the source is installed. The ESI, APCI and nanospray housings and probes will be automatically recognized by the system as soon as the sources are installed.
